Why not give the gift of paying it forward and get someone special one of our gift certificates!

Do you or your loved one have a favourite animal? Do you want to ensure that your donation goes directly toward the care of a specific species? By purchasing a certificate, you are able to sponsor a species while they're in our care.

When rehabilitating wildlife, it is best practice to simulate their natural environment as best we can. All our indigenous urban wildlife have specific needs and you can ensure that these needs are met!

Sponsor a small reptile:

Small reptiles, such as chameleons, agamas, skinks, red lipped heralds, terrapins, toads and frogs require specific care and temporary housing environments. These reptiles need tanks with a heat lamp, or heating pad. Species like chameleons need branches and fresh leaves, as well as frequent misting to enable them to "drink" from drops on leaves. Small snakes may need digital thermometers, humid conditions, and various substrates. It is essential that all these small reptiles are offered natural food items that they will recognise once released.

R150 per month will help provide:

- A specialised diet, such as insects and small rodents

- Specialised husbandry to ensure optimal environmental temperature and humidity

- Simulated natural habitat, including mini ponds of water and different natural elements, such as branches, fresh leaves, bark, sand, etc.

Sponsor a medium to large reptile:

Like smaller reptiles, medium to large reptiles also require specialised care. These reptiles might include tortoises, baby crocodiles, monitor lizards and most snake species.

R300 per month will help provide:

- A specialised diet, such as insects and small rodents or indigenous browse for tortoises.

- Specialised husbandry to ensure optimal environmental temperature and humidity

- Simulated natural habitat, including mini ponds of water and different natural elements, such as branches, fresh leaves, bark, sand, etc.

Sponsor a Southern African Python:

The Southern Africa Python (Python natalensis) is registered as a protected species in South Africa, meaning that keeping these animals in captivity without permits is illegal and can carry a hefty fine and prison sentence. Despite this, these animals are often trafficked or illegally kept as pets in deplorable condition. As a result, the SAPs in our care commonly require specialist medical care and expert rehabilitation before they can be released. We are committed to saving Southern African Pythons and doing whatever we can to ensure the survival of this species.

R700 per month will help provide:

- A specialised diet such as rodents and small mammals.

- Specialised husbandry, including monitoring of temperature as well as humidity levels. Monitoring shedding to ensure a successful shed, particularly if recovering from a wound. Continuous weight and food management to ensure the snake, where necessary, is gaining weight.

- Simulated natural habitat including a large water source, heat lamps for increasing body temperature, multiple branches, and basking sites, as well as an enclosed space to sleep.

We can also provide custom certificates with the large carnivore species of your choice. Email shop.jwvh@gmail.com to find out more.
